how to create a folder?

New Nexus 7 here, since December 27...love it! Quite a jewel of a device.
I transferred a number of files over USB recently, but I was not able to create a new folder on the Nexus. No option for that appeared in any of the Nexus folders. My workaround was to create an empty folder on my PC and copy that onto the Nexus, then copy my files into that. (PC is using Windows 7) Or just transfer a folder and all its contents onto the Nexus.
My normal workflow with external devices is to create a personal folder and that folder's subfolders, into which I copy my items. But I can't seem to do that on the nexus without first creating a folder on the PC, then dropping that into the Nexus.
What am I missing?
"Folder is Open" Notification
location: droidradar.com - date: June 30, 2012
So if you've created folders for your apps, I'm sure you've noticed that when you go into the folder to access an app, a speech notification says "Folder is Open", and when you close the folder it says "Folder is Closed". If I have my phone on vibrate or silent, this still happens, so the only way to stop this annoying voice is by lowering the Media Volume. Is there a way to disable this speech notification or get rid of it? I don't want to have my media volume lowered all the time and its quite annoying, especially when i'm at work and i'm trying to be discreet about my phone usage.
app to organize music folder?
location: droidmania.com - date: April 6, 2012
hi I download a lot of music on my sony xperia and don't have a laptop, so my music is in a mess, all in one folder with the wrong tags. I recently found droidid3tagger which works very well to automatically update the track's tags and file names. the only thing it doesn't do is arrange the files into folders like windows media player or iTunes does, arranging the music in your 'my music' folder into folders by artist/ album. does anyone know of an app that can do this for the android music folder? or doesn't it exist yet? thanks for any info.

When I plug the tablet into my PC and open the main folder (in PC) there is a 'download' folder shown on the tablet. I can't find it in the tablet though, either with the stock tablet explorer or with 'es explorer'. Anyone know where the 'download' folder should be?
thanks for the help.

Access downloads folder?
location: droidradar.com - date: May 17, 2010
I have been trying to figure this out for a bit, and can't find any help online as of yet.
Is there a quick way to access the "download history" folder on your phone (and without bothering to hook it up to a computer)? For reference, this is what you are shown if you open your browser, find a picture on some webpage, press on it until the menu pops up, and then select save image.
